Valerie, the Valentine Doll and a Special Birthday!

I loved working on this little girl.
She was just one of those dolls that everything came together perfectly (I wish they all were that agreeable!).

Meet Valerie!

Sweet little Valerie is all dressed up for Valentine's Day.

She just has one problem...she has no one to share the special day with!

Will you be her Valentine?

Valerie is patiently waiting in the shop for her Valentine to find her!

In other news, yesterday was a very special day!
It was my little girl's first birthday!

Can you believe it's already been a year!?
I can't.

She's had a fantastic birthday week so far...and Saturday will be her big birthday party! Can't wait!

I was hoping to get a Valentine monster made for the shop, but I suddenly have found myself with three custom orders! Guess I better get back to work!

A Custom Cheshire!

I must have fallen through a rabbit hole in my back yard because look who I found hanging around out there!

This Cheshire was a custom order from a friend in Scotland.

I had so much fun working on him!
I loved the idea of turning someone's kitty into a Cheshire.

Here he is pictured with the pretty kitty he was modeled after.

I already have the materials picked out to make a Cheshire for the shop, but first I have a little Valentine doll demanding to be made!

Noogle, the Cheery Little Monster

I said I'd be back soon, didn't I?

This cheery little fellow is Noogle!

Noogle is one of the happiest monsters I've ever met.

He believes there's a sunny side to everything.

I've even caught him studying the clouds for hours, looking for the silver lining on each one.

Noogle is now in the shop, hoping he can brighten someone's day!

He'll be my last little monster for a week at least.
I'm off to start my fun little custom...and if it turns out how I hope, I'll make a similar one for the shop!

Gurple's little brother, Glurp!

I'm sure you guys remember Gurple. I introduced you to him a week or so ago.
Well, I can now introduce you to his little brother...

Meet Glurp!

Glurp is very loyal to his friends.

He's also pretty mild mannered...for a monster.

Glurp is now looking for a new home in the shop!

I have one more little monster cut out, and then I'll be working on a pretty fun custom!
Be back soon!

Meet Moog!

I'm happy to finally be able to share Moog with you guys.

Moog is very sweet, but he worries way too much.

He was very concerned no one would like him.

I told him I find him very lovable, so he has nothing to worry about.

Moog is now looking for a new home in the shop!

Now I'm off to work on Gurple's little brother!

Oh, and you get a bonus shot...This is why you don't attempt taking pictures indoors with small children around...

Gurple tried to hold her off for me, but it didn't last long...so we had to wait until she took a nap. ;)

A Week of Goodbyes

Last week was filled with quite a few goodbyes.
No worries, they were all good (well, one was a bit bittersweet, but I'll get to that).

My most exciting news...I had my first etsy sale!

Persephone was so excited to find out she'd been adopted! She could hardly wait to get into her box!
(Forgive the sad cell phone pic...she refused to even give me time to pull out the big camera).

Chloe and Porridge were sad to say goodbye to their sister...until the next day when they discovered they had also been adopted!

This little monster never even gave me a chance to take a farewell picture. He couldn't wait to get out and start seeing the world!

It makes me so happy to see several of my little creations off to their new homes. I so hope they'll be loved.

My final goodbye of the week was my house. We'd been trying to sell it for a year now, and it finally sold.
We spent every day last week moving out. It was exhausting.
It was really hard saying goodbye to that house. I had a tough time doing the final walkthrough to make sure everything was gone.
It was mine and my husband's first home together, and the home our family began in.
It's a huge relief to have that burden off our shoulders, but it still makes me a bit sad.

Oh well, I know letting that house go only means that greater things are in store for us in the future.
It looks like 2013 is going to be all about letting go and starting with a clean slate. I'm excited to see what possibilities this will open up for me and my family.

(Side note: Thanks to the crazy long hours I had to work packing our stuff, my monster progress was slowed down a lot. Hopefully this week will be much calmer and I'll be able to actually get some things done in the studio!)

Meet Gurple, the new monster in the house!

I'd love for you guys to meet my new friend, Gurple.

I have to admit, I'm a little in love with this guy.

My son likes him so much, he keeps asking me to make him a blue one!

Gurple is the prototype for my new monster design.
What do you guys think of him?

He's a bit bigger than I typically make my creatures. He's 16 inches tall if you count his legs.
I'm going to reduce the pattern down and make them smaller in the future (for my own sanity!).

Unfortunately for Gurple (or maybe fortunately for me), he has too many errors for me to put him in the shop (mostly just tweeks that need to be made to his pattern).
That means he gets to be my resident monster (oh darn!).

I'm planning on cutting out three more of these guys this week to create for the shop.
I like Gurple's color combination so much, one of those three will probably be his little brother! :)

Hmm, which reminds me...I better make that four. Alex did say he wanted a blue one.

Glove Monsters!

Oh my, I knew a mini invasion was coming.
I think I said it before.

I managed to catch not one, but three new little glove monsters running around my studio.

I wanted to wear them out (they can be pretty hyper), so I took them outside to play.

We had a great time playing together! :)

All of these guys are looking for a new home in my shop.

I also have another creature to introduce to you, but I think he deserves his own post...so you'll meet him in a few days!
(If you want a hint, you can find his picture on my Facebook page!

Happy New Year!

2012 has been such a wonderful year for me.

I started this year with the birth of my precious daughter, Summer.

Not much can top that, of course. ;)

I was finally able to quit my job and stay at home with my kids (something I'd been praying for ever since my son was born). Yes, huge sacrifices had to be made to achieve this, but it has been completely worth it.

I also gained two other new family members this year...a wonderful sister-in-law, and a beautiful new niece.

For several years, I have been dreaming of opening an etsy shop, and 2012 was the year I finally did it!
I'm so excited about how much I've grown as an artist this year. I feel like I've finally begun to find my "style" in the doll and plush making world.

I thought I'd put together a collage of all the Scribble Dolls of 2012.

I'm actually sad saying goodbye to 2012, but I can not wait to see what 2013 will bring.

Happy New Year!
